LA CROSSE, Wis. - The second of two men suspected in the March shooting death of Sarah Hougom in La Crosse reached a plea deal with prosecutors.
Late Thursday afternoon, Kong Vue, 20, of La Crosse entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge. A couple weeks ago, his cousin, Pao Choua Vue, 22, of La Crosse, also pleaded to a reduced charge.
It was surveillance that led police to Kong Vue. He was then arrested. Vue said very little in court Thursday when asked to admit to the crime. That response, and the rescheduling of Vue's sentencing to November, upset Hougom's family.
"At this time, the family is not feeling relief, said Rev. Ellen Rasmussen, the spokesperson for the Hougom family. "It feels like things are still ongoing. They're wondering if it will ever end. They were geared up for the October 10th sentencing date, and for another month to be extended has…affected the family again."
Hougom was shot in her apartment in late March, and later died of her injuries.
